Given Sophie's level and field of qualification it doesn't surprise me that finding a suitable job is complicated. Moving from education to employment involved my friends and I from university doing all sorts of paid and voluntary work before we selected the career paths we did. That's one of the reasons we started our own businesses together.

There also aren't very many reasonably well-paid jobs in SEND and related fields. Huge amounts of that work here is done by charidees.

The key point Sophie makes is that better education (and if necessary other resources) may be a great help.

Things could get better, if we only give them a chance and work out funding them. That's the greatest problem these days.

    😇

Indeed, SEN education was bad back in the 80s when I was at school, and nearly 40 years later it's just as bad if not even worse.

Ukraine and Russia spent decades after 1991 driving their people into poverty, and then, by launching military conflict, they gave the poor a "wonderful" opportunity to make money, and arms manufacturers a profit as well. It appears the UK is following a similar path.
