Will I have to pay for a Medical Declaration Form for my Taekwondo competitions?
It was announced last week that I need this form to be signed by my GP in order to compete.
However, they turned round yesterday at the Doctor's that in order to get one requires several appointments which will commence next week.
I'm just concerned that it'll cost me a considerable amount of money to get this info about my OWN medical history.
Am I right?

I'm entering a competition at Barnsley Metrodome next Sunday, however the BTC sent me an email yesterday asking for official results of an IQ test! I mean come on, I am fully aware the whole flippin' world thinks I'm daft, but an official Organisation?!
Should I look into legal advice for their blatant ableism?

That's a bit strange @SheffieldMan1976! Especially because IQ tests are not a standardised test for anything really. Could you ask them to clarify why they need this particular test? Are they just asking you, or does everyone who wants to compete need to provide this?
It might be understandable to ask for some kind of note to confirm someone's physical or mental fitness to compete. This would usually be part of their risk assessment or insurance should someone injure themselves or become unwell while taking part. But an IQ test doesn't do that.

I found and downloaded the results certificate of an online IQ test I did last year, the score was 117, so contrary to popular belief, I might never become a white version of Shaun Wallace off The Chase but I am NOT stupid.

Not at all stupid @SheffieldMan1976! There are lots of different types of intelligence too. Some people might find an IQ test really difficult but be incredible at moving their bodies in the way that Taekwondo requires. Intelligence doesn't always boil down to who does well on a test.
Have you spoken to the people you learn Taekwondo from about what's happened?

I spoke to the Master last night, he says he's on an admin day today and will contact the BTC and also my finance company about paying for the seminar on Saturday and the competition next Sunday.

Do you have to do anything to prepare for the competition apart from that? I don't know very much about Taekwondo - do you have to do particular exercises to prepare yourself to compete?

Just a general warm up, running round the Hall, then leg stretches, pushups and situps (neither of which I can do, especially situps), star jumps and squats.

Sounds good @SheffieldMan1976, bet all that helps keep you fit and strong ☺️ and does it have a coloured belt system like Karate and other martial arts?

Yes, in fact the next grading's coming up 4 weeks on Saturday, hopefully he'll let me go for blue belt (4th Kup)
The current grades are 10th Kup (white belt), 9th Kup (white with a yellow tag), 8th Kup (yellow belt), 7th Kup (yellow belt with a green tag) 6th Kup (Green belt), 5th Kup (my current rank - green belt with a blue tag), 4th Kup (blue belt), 3rd Kup (blue belt with red tag), 2nd Kup (red belt), 1st Kup (red belt with a black tag) then obviously the Holy Grail, black belt, which goes all the way up to 10th Dan Grand Master.

I attended the Seminar at Quest Taekwondo in Orgreave, Barnsley this morning, one of the best training sessions ever.
Bring on the comp next week.

On a related note, I got a message from my Sir on WhatsApp last night, now the BTC wants a Medical Declaration Form for my competing this Sunday and any future domestic Poomsae competitions I might enter.. Problem is, it's probably gonna cost me £30 for this form, and I could've done without this expense this week in particular, to be honest, all this "red tape" and fannying about (to quote DI Grim on the Thin Blue Line) from them is making me that I don't wanna do it, but I'm excited for the comp on Sunday.

Sounds frustrating @SheffieldMan1976. Don't let it put you off though. I know it's a hassle and an extra expense but hopefully it'll just be a one time thing and then you'll be covered for all other competitions.

Well it turns out I probably won't be able to compete on Sunday because getting this form they want requires several Doctor's appointments apparently! Which is contrary to what I was told last week that it was a simple case of getting the form signed by the GP.
I am MAJORLY **** off about this as it shows a complete breakdown in communication on the part of the BTC and the Quack.
