PIP review due 2027

Hello All,

I have not read too much on PIP stuff recently. I find reading things detrimental to my MH, and stick to my Counsellors advice and only act when I have too.

I have become aware of changes to PIP award times etc and I understand there see there are delays with planned reviews.

Im 63 now, and my 5 year award ends in November 2027. Am I likely to have to go through a full review soon November 2026 a year before my present review ends. I am sort of hoping not .. nothing has changed for the better and a nice indefinite award would be nice after years of sending NHS evidence to the DWP. Wishful thinking perhaps ?

I reach state pension age in 2030 .. so from experience here what is likely to happen with my PIP review based in peoples most recent experiences ?

The best thing to do is treat the re- assessment as a completely new assessment and never put 'no change' but answer the questions as fully as you possibly can.

Add extra sheets if necessary to explain how your disability affects you.

Label each sheet with your name and national insurance number.

Emphasise that your disability hasn't and isn't going to improve.

Tell them if its got worse and that its been long term and ongoing.

I requested a paper based assessment and an ongoing award as I was 62 years old and I reminded them to refer back to the evidence I had submitted to them previously over the years.

To my amazement I had a paper based assessment and a 10 year ongoing award which of course is a huge relief.

I followed the Citizens advise online guide to applying for pip and it was extremely informative.

Don't be afraid to request paper based and a longer ongoing award in writing when you apply.

They may not agree but its definitely worth trying.
