Am I entitled to back pay?

hi need some advice put my first sick note in on 21st November 2025 it was for 3 months had my assent ment may 2026 and claim is effective from march 2026 and first payment July am I entitled to back pay

    Hi @bex1985 welcome here :) Is your assessment for PIP? If you’re talking about PIP then I am fairly sure you will be entitled to back pay but hopefully someone else here will confirm it as there are many here who know more than me about these things

    If your Fit Notes were continuous without breaks (it's the date they are given to UC that counts, not the start date written on them), then you should be entitled to backpay.

    LCWRA element has a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA is added into payment. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

    Backpay is calculated separately and this usually takes several weeks at least.

    You'll know when this has been done as a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to underpayment. The money will then be paid within a few working days and new versions of statements added.
