Hello!

I have lived with my mother for over 20 years, and I am on disability benefits PIP for physical and mental health, My mother has been with the housing association for over 20 years , but I am not on the tenancy. I am only on the polling list, so the council know I live there. My mother is a pensioner, and she will be leaving the house soon because she is moving into more suitable housing for her age. I don't know if they will kick me out because I am not on the tenancy, or do I have to leave when my mother has left, Its a really stressful time as I still look on the house as my home .

I would suggest that you contact a local advice centre such as Citizens Advice or Welfare Rights Unit as they should be able to advise you. You might also find it helpful to look at information on the Shelter website.

The Housing Association may offer you a new tenancy based on your vulnerability but it's very unlikely you will be able to remain in the property if you are under occupying, so it's extremely likely you would only be offered a one bedroom property.

I know change is difficult especially when unwell, but remember change can be a good thing 🙂
