American LANCER B1 bomber over Southern England on 14th June 2026
Here they are using our airspace, dumping fuel into our atmosphere …..and being extremely noisy. These were to be seen for almost 2 hours from 6 pm - circling my home - carrying up to 75,000 lbs bombs !

Wow @Wibbles, that sounds disruptive! Were they on some kind of training exercise or something?

If they were carrying that amount of bombs they would have to dump fuel if they needed to land. Maybe there was a technical problem and they were forced to come down.

That's true - still, they are all leaving UK soon - there were 16 of them at RAF Fairford !

We have all types of planes flying over us. Different nationalities. We're slap bang in the Military Training Low Fly Zone. Jets are so low they set car alarms off. Ospreys, Hercules etc are so low you can see the pilots … as locals we're used to it, but quite funny seeing tourists ducking and swearing.
Strangely the dog just runs in the garden to watch the planes, but goes berserker at the Chinooks. Maybe it's the low humm and tch tch tch

They're probably getting ready to bomb Iran. These planes are pretty old.

I think it's very dangerous to fly near civilians. In 2002, a fighter jet crashed at an air show in Ukraine. The accident killed 77 people and injured 543.

We have similar with our Red Arrows here in Lincoln but not as close as you described. Still pretty low though. I don't mind them though even if they are loud because it's not constant and they sometimes leave cool shapes or colours. They often leave a love heart over the fields across the way.

There's been campaigns to stop it but the MOD is the MOD. I remember a mid air collision in the 80's about 12 miles from here over a seaside town … the debris from one plane ended in the sea the other came to rest about 10 miles inland as the crow flies. It could have been so different. The luck of the draw. We were called to help fight the forest fire that it caused. I say forest … a cliff is more accurate. In a built up are … well the caualties ould have been enormous
It's surprising what we get used to. I didn't use to mind them, but ever since the Fibro' manifested … the after burners kicking in get my body yinging. It also gets a bit annoying when a Hercules or similar whumps over the roof at midnight. But thankfully night flying exercises aren't often
My wife would like to go to an air show. I'd spend the time cowering so that's not happening 😋

I think she'd have loved the Waddington show. It used to be a great day out but for security reasons, they no longer do it.
