Hi my husband has been signed of sick for 30 days this could increase his illness is achol dependence and mental health he is reaceiving support from gp and councillng to stop drinking and is receiving statuary sick pay we were adviced to claim for esa which we did last week we recieved a message from them for him to get ssp1 form from his employee which we did they have told us to get it from gov website we do not understand what to do next has it says you can not get this payment if you are getting statuary payment

Hi,
That is correct, you cannot get New Style ESA at the same time as SSP.
When the SSP runs out, then you can claim NS ESA instead. You can apply for NS ESA up to 3 months before the SSP runs out so that there is no break in income when switching between the two.
