PIP extension
Good Morning everyone
Does anybody know if the DWP send out extension letters while they’re reviewing your PIP renewal?
My award runs out on 8th August 2026. I returned my renewal forms on 19th December 2025 and had a text on 6th April 2026, to say they are progressing with my review as soon as they can, and my PIP will continue to be paid while they’re reviewing my claim.
My disabled badge expires on the 8th August and my local council have said they can’t renew it, as there is no proof that I will be getting PIP after that date.
Should I contact the DWP and ask if they are extending my award, or is this automatic? They have said not to contact them unless my circumstances change, which they haven’t.
Thank you

Hi @Betty26 I've not been through this myself but hopefully one of our members will confirm from their experience. I know we had someone this morning who had verbal confirmation of an extension to complete their paperwork (slightly different), but they then are intending the follow up in writing.
It'll definitely be extended if they're still reviewing it but if you wanted to ask about the letter and don't get an answer here, you could give them a call if it'll put your mind at rest. ☺️
