Searching for work advice

Hey all, am after any tips or advice for my work search please.

I had to leave my last job due to my arthritis disability - they settled out of court prior to a tribunal hearing and while I did receive a payment, it’s not going to last forever and I need to find more work.

I am a qualified project manager with nearly 30 years experience, I have a degree in maths and my brain works pretty well, it’s just my legs that do not!
I am finding the job hunt really tough, as a couple of examples I have had a company not turn up for their own interview, and on providing feedback they stated that they only had technical roles available going forwards, whilst simultaneously advertising non technical roles on LinkedIn. I have this week had an interview where the recruitment company assured me they had discussed part time work with the employer, only to be told in the interview that they had never mentioned it 🙄- the recruitment company is now ghosting my calls.

And to top that all off, I was invited to another interview next week and gratefully accepted and asked for parking due to my disability- and that’s the last I have heard from that company!

Is it normal for it to be that difficult? I would be really grateful for tips and advice 🙏 am finding this a bit soul destroying tbh, how can “disabled people get into work” as we keep seeing in the headlines, when it’s like this?

If you're doing online applications, do NOT declare your disability unless you absolutely have to, as the AI WILL reject you without even looking at your CV etc.

As for the government's claims to get disabled people into work, trust me it'll never happen, there's too many severely disabled adults in the UK for whom a day's work would literally kill 'em! And that's what certain people don't understand.

It's a really tough market at the minute @Feenixrocks but I'm really shocked about how you've been treated by these companies. Especially ghosting you after asking about parking, that's awful. It's very disappointing that in this day and age, organisations aren't adapting as they should be. It sounds like you've got a wealth of experience and an employer would be lucky to have you onboard. I hope you'll keep putting yourself out there and to see some good news in the future from you.

And appreciate what you've said @SheffieldMan1976 but AI itself shouldn't unless it's told to which I'd hope isn't happening. With that being said, given what Feenixrocks has said in their recent experiences, I'm not convinced people aren't being shut out because of their disability.
