There will be welfare reform of some sort, Timms' PIP review, Milburn's review on Neets, Streeting's push review on whether mental illnesses are being over diagnosed. (All these reviews have the answers they want to justify cuts/tightening)

Tories want deeper cuts though, Reform wants to have the biggest welfare cut in history according to Farage, even the Lib Dems have said too many people on PIP.

Evidence, always have documented evidence of your illnesses/disabilities, incapacities, shower the DWP with this when assessment/reassessment comes be confidence that your word, your proof gets the job done.

What my personal fear/concern is that first Politicians and the Media will delegitimize Depression and Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, then down the like they might take aim at PTSD (cptsd), or Schizophrenia or Bipolar, "there's too many of them on benefits". We might think of ourselves and say "well if it tightens to push mild depression out that's fine" that incrementally opens the door to more severe issues, that's why there needs to be pushback and vigilance.

But what might have caused an explosion in cases of anxiety and depression, and why hasn't this happened elsewhere?

There has to be some sort of handbrake applied, otherwise we risk another lost generation.

@JasonRA None of that will happen, it would be Political suicide for whoever signs off on it.

I think it has happened elsewhere, lots of countries are in similar positions. I think more focus should be on this point though, what is happening to the young people in our country is very sad.

I know this won't be popular but I'm actually a little disappointed

Didn't particularly like him but he should have stayed and seen his term through.

Didn't we all have quite enough of revolving door PM's with the last government?

I would rather he had stayed as well. Not that I am a fan of his. But what will change of leader achieve?

Andy Burnham has done well as mayor of Manchester (where I live) but if he is PM that is an entirely different story.

People have no right to complain about local services if they choose not to be included on the UK electoral register.

People forfeit the right to be heard if they choose not to use that vote. Of course they will complain.

It is an interesting legal and civic reality in the UK that the right to voice concerns, complain about local services, or hold authorities accountable belongs to every single resident regardless of their voting status.

Public services are funded by all taxpayers including through VAT on everyday purchases and council tax, so everyone is entirely entitled to a say in how their community is run. Democratic engagement is much broader than just an election ballot, it is about everyday accountability and the fundamental freedom of speech that applies to everyone equally. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Please elaborate, WhatThe, I'm really interested in what you have to say.

It's not a secret. Do some research.

If you're going to say I'm completely wrong, then it's not down to me to then do some research, it's down to you to properly explain your reasoning. If you're not going to back up why you think I'm wrong then that doesn't really help your case at all, and so there was not much point in you saying anything in the first place.

I don't have to explain myself or squabble, no.

There is no need for us to squabble at all, I was hoping for a civilised discussion. However, when you publicly tell another member they are 'completely wrong' it is a standard courtesy on a discussion forum to provide a single fact explaining why. Simply dropping a flat contradiction and then refusing to discuss it does not contribute anything constructive to the thread.

The burden of proof is always on the person making the accusation. You can't expect others to do all of your work for you.

These are bureaucratic problems. The authorities are always monitoring public sentiment, including through posts on Facebook, Instagram, and the like.

We should do like Europe and appoint Taylor Swift as prime minister. Or Pikachu.

Spot on with your previous point, egiste2r. Modern accountability is based on everyday reality not just a bureaucratic checklist.

Whether it is through funding local services via everyday taxes or highlighting issues on social media, residents have a continuous right to voice their concerns. Authorities have to pay attention to public sentiment because public services exist to serve the entire community, regardless of a registration form.
