Hi everyone,

I just joined and wanted to say hello. I'm writing from Turkey and I'm thirty-three. I have low vision, my condition is called Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Honestly, the reason I'm here is to meet people from different parts of the world who go through similar things. Not just about disability, but about everything really, daily life, interests, the little struggles of getting through the day. I'm someone who can't sit still for long and is always looking for something new, so I get bored of routine pretty quickly. New people and new topics are exactly my thing.

What do I enjoy? Working with computers and software, which happens to be both my job and my hobby. Apart from that, I love thinking about football tactics and learning languages. I'm currently studying English, Arabic and Persian.

I'm new around here, so I'm still figuring out how everything works. If anyone feels like saying hello and having a chat, I'd be really glad. Have a good day, everyone.

    Hi @RestlessSeeker and welcome to the community! How is the heat in Turkey? We're struggling over here in the UK.

    I'm guessing you're enjoying the World Cup? Any particularly good tactics that you've seen?

    If you want to have general chats then the Coffee Lounge is the best place. We talk about all sorts of things. You could start your own discussion too! This discussion could be good for you. I downloaded Duolingo last night and need to decide which language to learn. I know I won't get fluent from it but I find learning languages fun!

    I'm fairly lucky with the weather, where I live it's a bit above average but not unbearable, quite manageable really.

    As for the World Cup, to be honest I don't really follow tournaments that closely. My real football fix comes from Football Manager, where I get to set the tactics and strategy myself. I have no say over real-life managers, but in the game I'm the boss and I make the calls. So I'm always up for a tactical discussion.

    Thanks for the Coffee Lounge tip, I'll definitely drop by. About Duolingo, I think what matters isn't so much which language you pick, but what your goal is. Do you want to chat with people, read more advanced texts, or something else? Every language has so many words and idioms that it really helps to pin down what you need first and optimise your studying around that. When you study with a purpose, the road gets a lot shorter.
