I started handing in fit notes in 2019 and got awarded lcw then I carried on handing in fit notes but was then told I didn't need to hand in any more as I was on lcw I was re assessed and filled out a booklet with my medical and health professionals input back in 2023 and dont no why it took so long but had a telephone appointment a few months ago and was awarded lcwra I have had a message saying I need to speak to someone before they release my backpay but just wondering when it will be backdated until

    While you were getting LCW, did the DWP initiate the reassessment by sending the forms out of the blue?

    Or did you report a change in health to trigger the reassessment.

    My last health change was in 2021

    If you had the WCA as a result of you reporting a change in health 2021, it can backdate to 2021 but usually they want continuous Fit Notes to award backpay.

    I say usually because I have seen decisions that seem to go against guidelines.

    If the DWP themselves initiated the review (you received the form unexpectedly) then LCWRA element would first apply to the Assessment Period in which the decision was made.
