Should I buy or make any new costumes for the rest of this and next year's cons?
Above.
As y'all know I'm a cosplayer, and have been for nearly 13 years since I attended my first comic con at Sheffield Arena in August 2013.
Usually, if I know I've got an event coming up, I save up and buy myself a new costume, something I actually want, on eBay or some other costume site I find after extensive Googling.
Nowadays, for obvious reasons my Parents have a massive cob on about my spending habits so I need to try and get my own costumes made or bought as cheap as possible.
I've got several events coming up soon this year, Barnsley on the 19th of July, Leeds on the 1st of August, Sheffield (well technically the venue's in Rotherham) in September, and then Lincoln and Sheffield in October.
Should I buy anything else or stick to what I've got in the boxes?

Are you worried about your spending too? Perhaps there is a compromise somewhere where you treat yourself to a new costume, but only once per year or something like that. And then the rest of the time you make do with what you've got.
You could have a look on places like Vinted to see if there's anything second hand you could get for cheaper than new.
Have you got any characters in mind that you're hoping to get costumes for?
Sounds like you've got a fun few months ahead anyway! Even if you have to reuse some costumes more than you'd like, I'm sure you'll still have a good time at the events ☺️

Is there anyway to repurpose what you have already, or turn what you already have into a brand new costume? This way you can make something yourself, have something new, and not have to spend much money.

Would hiring a costume from a fancy dress shop be cheaper than buying a new one? @SheffieldMan1976

You just reminded me of Mr Ben!

Probably not.
Plus there's not that many hire shops local, the only one I know of is Molly Limpet's on Abbeydale Road.
