Hello, I'd like some advice as how to get a administrative job as someone who suffers with epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Any advice will be much appreciated😀!!

    We offer a Support to Work service which may be useful for you. They can help you with your CV, conduct mock interviews, and help you search for a job. We also have our wonderful CP Network team who may have some advice @Richard_Scope @Lucy_Scope @SaraC_Scope.

    I suggest focusing on upskilling in the meantime. Realistically, you won't get a job in the near future because the UK job market is the worst it's been in almost 20 years. Even ableds with decades of experience are finding it impossible. Disabled people, alongside anyone else with a patchy work history, stand no chance.

    The fact most disabled people have almost no paid work history is a MAJOR issue, which is caused by right wing employers in the ruddy first place IMO.

    Where do you get the idea that employers have a duty to employ us? Without government subsidy, they just won't.

    the various pay gap duties and equality act discrimination stuff suggests they do. and for subsidies, you're right for the majority of cases. hence why governments keep pushing out all these Restart schemes for younger people.

    Because they have a quota to fulfill, under the Equality Act 2010 they cannot reject any potential employee based on their disability, well that's the official line but it still happens that as soon as any disability is declared, BOOM! Rejected!

    We all know they can't reject an applicant because they are disabled, but unless they state that as the reason, there is no proof.

    How long can anyone keep doing the same thing, but expect a different result? It would have driven me mad if I hadn't stopped looking.
