Hello, help plz - I’m on LCWRA & son been awarded DLA, can I claim both? Misleading info on sites / forums states I can’t recieve both entitlements..

also does anyone have any info on if carers element is means tested / classed as income as I’ve recently quit my job to care for my son full time apart from his nursery days - will I still be able to claim working parents childcare code hours if technically on CE or on LWCRA - really confused with it all 😢😢

Any help appreciated xx

The same person cannot get both LCWRA and Carers Element.

    entitledto Carers & Limited Capability

If you claim Carers Allowance this gets deducted in full from your UC award.

    hi @Kimi87 thanks for response

I’ve read into these and as I’m not part of a couple and the LCWRA applies to me and the DLA my son is this still the case?

I read this earlier which has really threw my thoughts into a frenzy of maybe it’s possible ? Or is that definitely the case when it comes to both elements ?

Sorry for all the questions I’m new to UC & really don’t understand it at all / googles become my go to but hoping to hear if anyone else has had this query and how it works etc, the screenshot below linked me to scope so hence now I’m here 😂

Thank you for your response xxx

I'm afraid that AI generated information is wrong.

The same person (you) cannot get both LCWRA and Carers Element.

You as the claimant cannot get Carers Element because you are getting LCWRA.

More reputable sources of information confirming this, in addition to the link already provided.

I think the OP second message with the AI generated results suggests that both claims can be added, however, I feel it may be based on a 2 parent household or another person caring for the child who is also on UC without actually explaining it properly (I Think)

So in effect, yes, one parent could receive the LCWRA, & the other parent can receive the CE, however, as a single person, they would not be able to apply for the 2 elements
