PIP review process questions

Hello

I've just received my PIP review form (I won my award on appeal in 2024). My query is about the stages of the review process. I've read on the scope website and a lot of posts on the forum but please could someone explain what happens when?

I have been given a deadline to return my form. I know I can submit additional paper if necessary. But what happens next?

Does everyone have an assessment at some stage, after returning the review form? Or are some awards given from the form alone?

Is there any guidance of how long you need to wait after sending off the form? Weeks/months?

I've seen that some people have logged into the gov.uk one account. I've just done that and all I can see is a copy of my award letter from 2024 confirming my PIP entitlement. There's nothing there about the review.

Hi @trickyjacket. Once you've submitted your review, PIP will take a look at it and go from there.

Some people will be invited to an assessment which is often by telephone. Others might have a paper-based assessment, which means PIP think they have enough information to make a decision without speaking to you.

You'll often get some automated text updates along the way. Once they've made a decision, you should get a text to let you know and a letter will be in the post. You can also try checking the government one account site again as some people find their awards are updated there before the letter comes through.

Timelines can vary quite a lot, so that's a tricky one to give an answer to unfortunately. Some people find theirs go through quite quickly, within a few weeks. Others are still waiting a few months later. If you're worried at any point, you can try checking in with the enquiries line to see what stage your review is at. It can be a bit hit or miss, but hopefully they'll be able to help you!

I could do without this hanging over me at the moment but I knew it would likely come this summer as award is until February 2027.

I've not taken the form out of the envelope yet (I just peeped in to see the deadline). I need to find my original application and all those documents and set aside time to focus on completing the review form.
