Stuck with adapted bungalow
My father was put onto 24hr oxygen in 2022. It took us until May 2025 to be offered an adapted bungalow. He died unexpectedly in September 2025 and now I'm stuck with this lovely bungalow which I don't need! I've tried mutual exchange, choice-based lettings, joined several council lists, Facebook groups, and I'm still here.
It's a 2-bed bungalow with wetroom and wheelchair ramp. Dad's wheelchair was able to fit through all the doors. With Dad now gone, I'm desperate to move near family in Leeds.
I feel awkward that I'm occupying a property which someone else actually needs. All my housing association has done is put me on their northern hub, but none of the properties I'm eligible for are suitable.

If there aren't any eligible properties you feel are suitable for you to move to, you'll just have to wait until there is something you are interested in.
Your Housing Association can't produce a suitable property out of thin air for you to accept.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things. You could try using this link, selecting Housing as the topic to see if there are any local advice agencies to talk too.
Moving within social housing can take an extremely long time, you just have to be patient and keep going.
I've been in that situation twice, I do sympathise.

I feel your pain, my local HA was, and probably still is, borderline incompetent, especially after the first 5 years of my tenancy (2011, it'd be 20 years next month since I moved in had I not told them last year to touch grass, and gave the legally required 30 days notice circa last April in lieu of moving to "Supported" living in High Green last May, which was an unmitigated disaster)
