Stuff that isn't used for its intended use
My dad was tidying some TV cables and asked me for suggestions on how to go about it. I suggested a cable tie, as he has lots and lots of them and uses them all the time. Then I realised it's one of those things that people have millions of uses for but never its intended (namesake) purpose!
Another example is paperclips. People always seem to use them in creative ways like for getting SIM cards out of phones or cleaning dirt out of crevices, never for clipping paper together.
Who can think of other examples?? ๐ค

I use bobbles sometimes as cable ties. I like them tidy ๐
Can't think of anything else at the minute, although I'm sure there are plenty.

To clarify, just little black bands and not full on massive scrunchies ๐๐

I thought of another one, the cigarette lighter in the car. It's a bit dated anyway, now, though. There were so many gadgets that plugged in to them but no one ever used them to light a cigarette!!

I actually think I have a load of these!
Toothpicks: I use them for testing baking, craft, in place of the sim remover stick
Clothes pegs: Used to close food packets and stuff, I never peg my clothes even outside, which does mean I'm often having to pick them up from all over the garden ๐

I used to use mine, until I had an unfortunate accident & it dropped down my bra. I stopped then!
Duct tape & pipe cleaners. I stick anything with the tape, as it holds, never any ducting though & pipe cleaners, I've used for all sorts of crafts & cleaning around taps, not on a smokers pipe, although, dad did.

It's even worse than thatโฆthey're much larger than a cigarette because they were originally designed to light cigars.
I wonder what percentage of car cigar lighters were ever used to light cigars? ๐

I genuinely don't think I've ever seen anyone smoke a cigar except on TV ๐

I'd have thought a cigar lighter would have been more useful in the back โ anyone smoking a cigar would have a driver, surely? ๐

I've never smoked and never will, I used a Cigarette lighter in the car to power my old Gameboy on long journeys.

I can't light my cigars with a Nintendo, oh how i've tried!

Everything is a hammer, unless it's a screwdriver, in which case it's a chisel. Simple!

My dad smoked cigars & a pipe, so one person that used it correctly. Not for the pipe, of course! ๐
When I ran out of cigs & money, as a kid, I used to sneak a puff on one of his pipes. Desperation!! ๐ I so wished he'd lived to see vaping pipes.
