Hello,

I'm trying to understand what happened after my redundancy because my former employer's records and my Universal Credit records don't seem to match.

My employer made me redundant and issued my final payslip, including PILON. My HMRC Personal Tax Account shows taxable income for xxx (including the PILON), so it appears that this was reported to HMRC.

However, the employer did not actually pay me at that time. The company got into financial difficulties, and it took several months and ACAS involvement before I eventually received the money in instalments.

The confusing part is that my Universal Credit records appear to show my XXX earnings as only £10.10.

DWP have told me that I did not qualify for the 9-month benefit cap grace period because my XXX earnings were below the threshold, but they haven't explained why the August earnings they used differ from my HMRC record.

My questions are:

• Is there any way to see the RTI earnings that DWP received from HMRC?
• Can HMRC show what RTI submission my employer made?
• Could a delayed payment or employer insolvency result in HMRC showing one figure while Universal Credit used another?
• Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?

I've been trying to understand this for over a week and would really appreciate any insight.

I managed somehow after 2 weeks and after a request for 'statement of reasons' or maybe it was my complaint to have my case reviewed.

I got the refund! :)
