Hi, my name is whatevtrev! Worried about face to face PIP assessment

Been diagnosed with osteo arthritis in my hip i have had it a few year ,its getting unbearable been referred to msk and currently waiting for appointment, i work at coop and its a very fast paced enviroment thats ever growing with orders ,deliveroo and other platforms, anyway my contract is 20 hours and often do 39 ,since my condition is just getting worseive had to reduce to 4 days a week and 4 hour shifts and sick pay for the other 4 hours ive applied for pip 1st (time) and have to go to a face to face assesment ime worriod there not guna see what ime like at my worst is this guna affect the decission?

    Hi @whatevtrev and welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear your osteoarthritis is worsening. Here's some information about what to expect at an assessment including what the assessor will be looking at whilst you're there https://pip.turn2us.org.uk/how-can-you-prepare-for-assessment

    Working doesn't affect the decision unless it goes against what you tell them. For example, if you say you can't walk more than 50 metres but you're a postman, that would be an issue. Be honest with them and explain you've had to reduce your hours and tell them why. Detail how you're affected on a day-to-day basis and remember to use the examples from the form you completed and try to expand on them if you can.

    I was working in a school when I first applied and I explained the reasonable adjustments that the school had made for me, such as giving me a proper chair. Has your workplace made adjustments for you? It can be a stressful process but a lot of us here have been through it and we can support you.
