Struggling to find work

Hi everyone first time posting. I have ADHD and some other health issues that I currently claim PIP for. I am struggling to find work, I have been out of work now for atleast 5 years due to my health. My main struggle is getting interviews. I have had a lot of rejections from jobs recently. It feels like a never ending whirlpool of rejections. Hoping I can find something soon. Anyone else had similar experience with a large career gap? Take care everyone. Becky.

Hi @Becky95 and welcome to the community. I'm sorry you're struggling to find work, I can imagine it's very draining. We have a service that may be useful in helping you find work https://www.scope.org.uk/employment-services/support-to-work

What type of job are you looking for?

I'm in a very similar position to you and am having to stop actively looking for work because it's destroying my mental health. Sadly, the UK job market is the worst it's ever been since 2008. The amount of rejections you're getting is not your fault. The issues are systemic and require government intervention. AI has destroyed the application process, meaning that recruiters are relying on networking to fill roles ad not even look at online applications/CVs/cover letters from strangers. This assumes said job listings are even real and not offshored, fake or already allocated to an internal hire who has to go through the process for "equality" reasons). You'll likely remain unemployed till after the AI/Iran war economic crash, set to occur later this year, sadly.

Can you tell us about the next few months? We have to be careful not to unduly worry people.
