Lost my PIP

I've been on PIP for many years and was on DLA before that. I have a multitude of disabilities which have an impact on my daily life. I'm 61 and have had enduring problems since the age of 19. Was hospitalised due to my poor mental health many times, as a young man. I was diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder at the age of 54. I've struggled throughout the whole of my life with employment and personal relationships. I'm unable to work due to my disabilities, I've tried. I've had many jobs that never really amounted to anything, wasn't able to hold down a job due to extreme anxiety and depression. I've physical disabilities too, of which osteoarthritis is one. I've had a full knee replacement to my right knee and am listed for surgery on my other knee. I'm also waiting for surgery on a hernia. I have periods of confusion where I can't think clearly, for instance, I unplugged my chest freezer before I went away. It didn't 'register' with me that all my food would go rotten. I had a serious car crash in 1998 where I sustained head injuries and broke my leg badly. I've had three operations on my right leg. Both of my legs are swollen, I'm at risk of deep vein thrombosis and blood clots. I've had two mini strokes, the last one I went blind for 7 seconds. I can become forgetful and have difficulty recalling peoples names, and can forget what I'm doing. I've had some MRI scans of my head and body and in addition to that I've had some CAT scans too. With my mental health I have to take tranquilizers that block the dopamine receptors in my brain, since the age of 19. I do get symptoms of drug induced parkinsonism and recently was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder. I can get involuntary jerks in my body, mainly my arms and legs but have got them in my neck as well.

I've had my PIP declined and am in the process of going to tribunal. I can do without this extra worry, as I'm listed for two surgical procedures. Additionally I was assaulted and was attacked in my own home and sustained a black eye and cuts to my head. Was beaten over the head with my arm crutch that was given to me after I had knee surgery.

Hi @cjbraiden gosh, you've been through the wars! I'm so sorry that PIP was removed but pleased to hear your going through the tribunal process. I really really hope that it's a successful award. From what I've seen from other people's experiences, they seem to be more understanding at a tribunal - just a shame it so often has to get to that point.

I also wanted to check in about the assault to make sure that you're away from this situation now where you may be at further harm? I'm so sorry you've been through this.

I'm really sorry for everything you are going through, you have dealt with so much lifelong adversity and to be facing two surgeries while recovering from a horrific assault in your own home is just devastating. The DWP turning you down on top of all this is cruel, but please don't let them make you feel like your conditions aren't real, you have a mountain of medical evidence. Hold your head up, take it one day at a time, and I truly hope the tribunal panel gives you the justice and peace of mind you deserve.
