I care for my disabled daughter (27) who lives at home and am eligible to apply for carer allowance. I'm slightly confused as to whether this will affect her benefits though. She receives both PIP and universal credit with the higher rate LCWA. I don't think her benefit will be affected but when I read on line it talks about severe disability premium will be affected & I just want to check that this won't be the case. (I think that is the old ESA but not 100%).Thank you.

SDP applies to the old Income Related ESA which has completely ended now & been replaced by Universal Credit.

    UC has no disability premiums.

So neither her UC or her PIP would be impacted by you claiming Carers Allowance.

Thank you. I was fairly sure of that but then you read a different section of info and begin to doubt yourself

Don't read stuff created by AI chat bots, most of it's complete and utter bobbins.
