Advice. Council won't approve driveway for WAV

Hi Everyone. I am looking for some advice and I was wondering if someone could help me. I am a wheelchair user and I am about to get a WAV vehicle. The OT has recommended that the council put a driveway in the front garden which they agreed to. Now they are saying that a disabled bay in the road is all I need siting that I must have a retaining wall one metre from the bay. None of my neighbours have this retaining wall and their driveways go up to their windows. My road is a rat run and extremely busy with cars ducking in and out. My car has been hit several times where they want to put the disabled bay. Also it will contravene health and safety standards because you have to entre the WAV via a ramp in the back and someone has to secure the wheelchair with straps for traveling. It puts them and me at risk especially in the dark and in bad weather. The wheelchair has to be secured in the road. What I'd like advice with is where can I go to raise these issues because the council have turned a deaf ear and think because I can't use my legs I don't have a brain.

Hi @yvonneadams, welcome to the community. That sounds so frustrating. Could you possibly speak to your local MP about it? They might be able to put some pressure on your council.

I hope some of our members might have some similar experiences so they can share how it went for them too.

My OT recommended multiple things, some were approved, some weren't; it never entered my head to kick up a fuss, especially when every penny is a prisoner for councils these days.
