Electric wheelchair buying tips

hi, does anyone have any good websites or shops to recommend as I’m trying to privately buy an electric wheelchair and I don’t feel comfortable using places like eBay where I have to pick up from someone else’s house.

    I would always recommend either attending your local mobility shop, or as I did, get them to bring several models to your home. Any reputable shop will have no problem giving home demonstrations.

    Are you planning on travelling with this powerchair? I recently got a folding powerchair, it splits into two sections, each section weighing around 15kg. There are models, such as the Quickie Q50R Carbon that are half this weight, but they are pretty much only suitable for shopping centres and hospitals etc.

    My E Goes DE08L Freedom Chair is much more robust than those carbon ones, and with the three 10ah batteries (I purchased another 2) fitted, it has an alleged range of 27 miles.

    Even if you don't need to split it for car travel, it is handy to be able to stand it on end folded, it is then much easier to keep by the front door.

    Although my Freedom Chair cost £3,000 from the local mobility shop, and it could be three or four hundred less online, I still say buy from the shop, If you have it delivered on a pallet, you would need to pay to send it back on a pallet, whereas my shop will come to me if I have any issues. They are also happy to collect it annually for servicing.

    I will be travelling with it but only in the car and I would be sitting in it while in the car. It would need to be folded as I don’t have a lot of space to store it at home

    So you have a WAV at home? I bought my Freedom Chair so that it can fit in the boot of a car, I have a large Quickie Q700M that i use at home, it is definitely not foldable, but comfortable for prolonged use. I certainly wouldn't recommend spending all day in a folding chair, it is a compromise for any travel i am required to undertake.
