NEW Style ESA

Last July(2025) after years of seamless payments, DWP transferred my son to so-called NEW STYLE ESA and UC. Since January, on alternate months, DWP have omitted to pay any ESA. Each time I’ve phoned up (waiting HOURS on hold, while they knew I’m waiting) they apologised and reimbursed the missing amounts, and said it had been a computer error. Last month (June) they missed again and after another phone call, they reimbursed it in separate payments, but then also paid in a large lump sum on the following day. I have duly called to tell them so and nobody knew the reason but have notified the department! It’s that computer again, and it needs a complete overhaul!
It’s exasperating.

That sounds incredibly frustrating @Adeline01! Have you been ok financially with them missing payments?

Ugh, knowing the gross incompetence of the DWP, they're probably still running their entire PC network on Windows 98!

Yes, thank you, Rachel. Luckily I noticed the lack of funds before monthly bills were due, and was in a position to top up his account, but I realise not everyone would be able to do so.
