I have no confidence applying for jobs

Hi all,

I’m a 23 year old blind woman. I did relatively well in school considering… but I’ve been out of work and education since 2020, when i dropped out of college due to covid and mental health.

I’m having somewhat of a quarter life crisis right now, everything seems so pointless if I’m just gonna spend the next 5.. 10.. 20 years sitting at home not doing very much. I would love to live alone, but I spent a weekend alone at home last week and realised just how bored i would be. There’s only so many house chores you can do before they are demoralising (they are anyway, but day in, day out).

So I’ve started looking for jobs again. I found one that seems like it could be suitable, and I’m rewriting my CV.. but the issue is, I have absolutely no confidence. I’m convinced I won’t get anything, convinced no one will even look at me if I even mention the fact I am blind on my CV. There are other issues at play but i suppose they could be worked on (independent travel for example, i have done this in the past I am just really out of practice).

There isn’t much I’m qualified to do despite doing well at school, and my CV is littered with awards I got while I was at school.. but that doesn’t help when you’ve been out of the game for such a long time and realise your confidence is rock bottom?

I know realistically i just have to go for it.. but it’s just so hard expecting to be rejected. This is before we even discuss the implications on LCWRA (and the cuts to it for new claimants if it doesn’t work out)

Has anyone (regardless of disability) felt this way?
