Reform plans for PIP
Better hope that Reform don't win the next general election !
In a policy document to be published next week, which the BBC has seen an extract of, the party estimates 2.89 million people would have their disability payments removed, or modified, under plans to abolish Personal Independent Payments (Pip) for working age people.
The party would also remove the extra health-related payments on Universal Credit.
A new system, called a Health Security Allowance, would replace both Pip and the Universal Credit health element but only the most "severe, enduring and high-risk cases" would receive cash support, the document says.
Other claimants would be supported through a council-run programme to cover what Reform said would be the "verifiable additional costs" as a result of their disability.
To boost available support for people out of work, the party says it would spend an extra £1.85bn a year on interventions such as cognitive behavioural therapy, physiotherapy, and employment support.
Reform also wants to reform children's benefits, and is promising to align the system for anxiety, depression and ADHD in young people with its changes to the adult system. But this would only apply to new claimants.

BTW "modified" is the en-vogue term for something negative in terms of money. When prices increase, companies now say they are modifying the price. When benefits are being cut, the DWP will be modifying the rates and rules.

We live in a democracy and people are allowed to vote for who they like.
Discussions which are purely intended to influence voting are not allowed on the Scope forum.
I would like to think his chances of becoming PM are remote but that is up to the people of the country at the next general election.

Plus 18% of Clacton residents are on PIP - Are they stupid enough to allow their MP to remove their income ?

I know it can be difficult not to worry, but current polling doesn't make a Reform victory a certainty, and there's still a long way to go before the next election.
Even if they did become the largest party, their policies would still have to pass through Parliament, and controversial welfare reforms could face considerable opposition.

This is clickbait from Reform. It should be ignored by anxious people on this forum. None of the figures add up, nor do they have the power to overturn disabled folk’s benefits as assessed through medical doctors. ( often over long periods of time)Farage is in hot water( as is Tice) over his shady undisclosed donations.. so Jenrick’s been sent out to distract.. the other parties should call them out on their cruelty and stay focused on this.

If Reform got in or any other party that wants to destroy people’s lives by taking away money that means they can live an independent life, have the knowledge that there bills are covered etc. They will put a lot of people in mental health units and also in the ground as well. If they try it with me, I will kick up a stink so fowl that even a local sewer would smell like roses. I for one know I can no longer work, the last six years have truly seen my life flip around full 360 degrees. I know which avenue I will take if they start attacking me…..

Terrifying the thought of reform stopping pip for god's knows how many.
It's taken my husband who's 80 % disabled 40 years to get any welfare help.
I can see it now, us turning up at our local park for community work. Me pushing him around in his wheelchair.

I can't say what needs to be said on this forum because apparently there is a "good/bad on both sides" policy. What was said today puts millions of lives firmly in danger, it would indeed be foolish to believe otherwise. I will continue to tell the truth where I'm allowed to, I hope others without the will to collaborate will do likewise. Read a history book.

I believe this is algorithmic Politics. It's not nice but in order to be noticed, talked about, you pit people against each other which drives comment on social media, mistrust in communities and raises profile on social media. It's the nature of how social media/press works now unfortunately. It's an attention economy and the greater division, the more it's driven into public discourse by the algorithm. They can't just do what they say anyway, in my opinion. It's important to vote and keep believing in the strength of community.

There's a substantial number of PIP claimants who vote or intend to vote Reform. Well, I can't see the majority of these people voting for Reform now, so Reform has very likely lost a TON of votes!
