Performance measurement review telephone appointment - PIP

Had one of these last week for PIP expecting a brief conversation checking my ID , payment accuracy and whether or not my condition / s had changed. Turned out to be a lot of more intrusive than I had imagined - questions about my functional abilities ( along the lines of a full blown albeit mini PIP review)

Given that I had been led to believe I had been chosen at random, the non-clinician's questions would have needed proper preparation on my part to be answered effectively - I was definitely caught off guard by their nature and would have had my PIP2 form from 4 years ago in front of me if I had known more in advance.

Not sure if DWP PIP team have the time and resources to deal with the outcome of a Performance Measurement review. Apparently - from my AI search - only 0.04% of PIP claimants go through this sort of thing.

Over the years I have failed to inform the PIP team of various changes - catheterisation, greater wheelchair dependence ( though already on enhanced rates for both elements - that's not a valid excuse for not telling them of course )

The officer noted my failure to inform PIP team so I am guessing I will be getting an AR1 form in the post in due course but I felt it was better to be truthful than dishonest.

Anyone know what the actual ramifications of these Performance Measurement reviews are ? I have the feeling they are Not just statistic gathering exercises as the appointment letter led me to believe.

    I haven't heard of this before @JonnycJonny like you posted it sounds quite rare. How are you feeling today? I can imagine it is draining to have a phone call like that when you're not expecting it.

    Felt duped for not being informed of the extent of the questioning.

    The appointment letter made no mention of going through the PIP activities by a DWP administrator - not a health clinician.

    Thrown by it all but will deal with whatever comes next. I have the paperwork to back up my 'no improvement' status.

    If anyone has actually had one of these random reviews hopefully they can inform me of the consequences.

    In case anyone searches under this topic following the rather intrusive nature of the Performance Measurement Review I received a letter ( 2 weeks later ) confirming that the review was complete and that my payments would continue unchanged at the same rate.

    Although the team that undertakes the review is quite separate from the DWP PIP decision making team an audit log confirming that a review and its result is visible to PIP Case Managers.

    The Performance Measurement Review Team themselves have no remit to alter an award ( they cannot trigger an AR1 ) but any major inconsistencies / changes can be flagged for the Fraud Dept to investigate.

    It is a stat gathering exercise primarily but as it focuses directly on your health - PIP being non means tested - I would advise anyone who might be subject to one to have a copy of their original PIP2 form in front of them as an aide memoir because they trawl through it to see if things have changed - noting down all your replies. Feels like a medical / functional review - that's what makes it feel unnerving ( but they are admin officers only - not clinicians )
