Dementia and questionable behaviour

Im not even sure where to start with this one!.A neighbours mother recently died and the daughter told me yesterday that before she put her in a care home she lost her temper with her on numerous occasions and pretended that because her mother was not going to sleep when she wanted that she'd given the family dog away ( the elderly lady had dementia).she then proceeded to tell me that her mother begged her to go and get the dog back and she would sleep more.so the daughter then actually went upstairs to a bedroom where the mother couldn't get to and brought the dog down.She then told her mother that 'the people she got the dog back from were not very happy'.I am absolutely in shock.I have been thinking why she has told me this.could she be feeling guilty?.I didnt know what to say so I just sat there listening.But last night I kept wondering what else she might have done as I think this is so cruel.

I can imagine that was very unsettling and shocking to hear @Jane315STARX. Did you know this lady well?

I had actually known the lady for over 40 years.

It must be incredibly hard.My father didn't have dementia but had aphasia and lost the ability to speak ( not the same thing at all but was totally dependent on me).I could never lose my temper with him.it is heartbreaking when you hear of these things even on tv because they are based on reality
