    Somerset and Dorset getting 45C mid century, Cambridge 40C. When will our so-called leaders take this seriously?

    It's scary, isn't it @ChrisR777! I really hope the message will get through before it's too late, but it's difficult to stay hopeful when you read about the reality of the situation.

    I don't think there's a way to reconcile capitalism and a fight against climate change. We can't just tweak here and there, swap to EV etc. To make a real change, all developed countries should fundamentally change the way we live. Stop chasing constant growth, stop producing endless rubbish, stop making every aspect of our life about profit. The planet can't sustain it. For centuries, we've managed to divert most harmful externalities to poor regions in other parts of the world, but it's now catching up on us here in Europe too. The system is already collapsing, it's just not clear yet what will take its place. My fear is that it is going to be fascism as the wealthiest in the world would rather see that than give up their privileges and establish a social democracy.
