Does anyone have an email address or phone number for UC?
Above.
I need to contact them to discuss if my application for a Uni course in Doncaster would affect my UC?

I thought the £9,500 per year charge had put you off that idea?

Hi @SheffieldMan1976, you can find all the details to contact UC here:
Universal Credit: Contact Universal Credit - GOV.UK
There isn't a central email unfortunately, just a telephone number or messaging service through your journal. Sometimes the journal is the easiest way of getting in touch with them anyway. Do you have access to your journal?
There's a page here about being a student and how they'd adjust your UC if you were entitled to a maintenance loan:
Universal Credit and students - GOV.UK
Alternatively, Scope's helpline are very knowledgeable about benefits and should hopefully be able to give you some advice:

No that was for the course up at Sheffield Hallam.

@Rosie_Scope I hate ringing DWP call centres, it's nearly always someone Foreign who doesn't understand me.

Does the university in Doncaster not charge tuition fees then?

I recommend giving Scope's helpline a go @SheffieldMan1976. You can ring them or send an email, whatever you find easiest ☺️

Probably, they said in an email yesterday that I could get a maintenance loan to pay for it, which could potentially affect my entitlement to UC as it'd be classed as income, hence the OP.

A maintenance loan only covers food and accommodation does it not? Tuition fees are still the £9.5k I think.

If you're studying for an undergraduate degree, you can usually apply for a tuition fee loan. That one goes straight to the college or university to pay the fees. You then pay this back over time should you ever earn above a certain threshold. There are sometimes options for part time courses too depending on the level.
The maintenance loan is there to help with living costs while you study and this is the one that can affect your UC. You might still get some UC on top of a maintenance loan depending on what you're eligible to receive.
The maintenance loan is designed to help you pay for your essentials like rent, food and travel - the things that your UC would normally help cover. That's why it's seen as income and can affect your UC payments.

@Rosie_Scope, I've just emailed the help team, and had an automated response just now.
I'm hoping they'll get back to me by next week.

They did not tell me that, more to the point, I would be commuting from Sheffield as they told me it's a 2 day course 9.30 to 16.30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The financial support available can depend what level of course you're studying @SheffieldMan1976. It can also depend on whether it's full or part time. Hopefully the helpline can give you some advice on it all ☺️

It would be a HND course @Rosie_Scope
I unfortunately don't think it'd get me into a game design job, it'd just be to learn how to make my own games as a hobbyist route with potential to release them myself.

@SheffieldMan1976 , if you can already code and have a subject develop a game. You could start with text and play with yourself, then see what or how to wish to continue. I have done some work with a developer, because I liked his games and have a coding background.
Most games do not sell, but if you get it right the skies the limit. Start by making your game for you, then see if there is potential for more, even a 1 penny game that sells enough makes you rich.

Lol, I'm already Rich (in all the ways that matter, plus by name)
