Motability Car Servicing

My current 3yr Motability lease is about to end and Motability have informed me i must book my current lease car in for a mandatory service. The problem is i have been unable to find an authorised Motability dealership that still offers a collect and return service for a service. My local Ford dealer has informed me the service will take about 5 hours (2hrs for the service and 3hrs for infotainment system upgrades) and i will be welcome to sit in their showroom whilst my car is being attended to. The prospect of 5hrs sitting on a hard chair in a Ford Dealership that's situated in the middle of a massive industrial estate fills me with dread.

I don't know how difficult it is in practice, but if you phone Motability they're supposed to organise replacement transport for you

    That sounds very uncomfortable @MrHappy2

It may be worth contacting Mobility and explaining the situation as they may be able to offer a taxi to take you home and back or a courtesy car😊

Motability's position is that its not something they can assist with because its up to individual dealerships to decide if they offer a collect and return service for customers.

How far is the dealership? Would you be able to take a taxi home and back again later?

Cost of a return taxi £38.00p which is doable but due to health issues the days when i am physically able to go out are now few and far between which means its likely i'd fail to arrive on a specific day and time.

It is a difficult situation. Unfortunately getting the car to the dealership is your responsibility.

If you have wifi at home, it might be possible for you to update the Sync infotainment system from home so the service would be much shorter, but that doesn't change the arrival time, of course.

Is it an MOT you've been asked to get done, or a regular service?

Is there a Kwik Fit near you? You don't have to take the car to Ford for its MOT.

I'm not sure if Kwik Fit do servicing as well but it might be worth checking.

If you haven't looked already here's a link to something

Just to add even if Kwik Fit isn't in a super convenient location, it's anther company that may potentially be more flexible r.e. sending someone out to collect the car, they've always been good with me but that's just my experience

Apparently my car was serviced whilst it was being repaired after it was stolen but nobody told me about the service until i spoke with Motability yesterday about my struggles trying to arrange said service. So, just an MOT required now which will be done at my local Kwik Fit (if i'm well enough to travel) because according to google maps that's a lot nearer than my nearest Ford dealer.

I appreciate everyone's comments lots of great advice.
