Autism
I receive PIP daily living allowance and have recently been diagnosed with Autism, would it be a good idea to contact PIP and inform them my circumstances have changed and will I have to have another assessment face-to-face as I suffer from social anxiety. My Husband is my carer and receives the carer's allowance for this, or carry on as usual?
Thanks for your help with this situation.

Hi @Groovychick, If it's just that you've had a new diagnosis, you don't need to tell PIP.
PIP is more about how your conditions affect you than which diagnosis you have. A change in circumstances usually triggers a review and a new assessment. So unless anything has changed with your needs that might make your award go up or down, you don't need to let them know. You can mention it in your next review and provide any evidence then ☺️
How are you feeling about your diagnosis? Has it been something you've suspected for a long time, or is it all quite new?

Hi Rosie_Scope,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I found the Autism diagnosis hard to process and struggle on a daily basis with sensory overload and my mental health issues, also feel my health is deteriorating!🙁

Sorry to hear it's been difficult @Groovychick, a diagnosis can be a big adjustment on top of everything you're already dealing with. I hope things start to feel more stable soon. Do you have some supportive friends or family around you can talk things through with?
