Hi I need help to undestand something

I applied for pip over a year ago, i was refused scored 0 points on everything which I couldn't understand why since i should have but i accepted it, but I did ask for a MR out of the blue today, i had a phone call from them, the lady on the phone asked me 3 random questions, have i been prison, hospital or abroard, if my bank is correct, and do i need help managing my finances and that's all.

It came across strange I do over think a lot, (on everything) just wondering what people here will make of it, or is it just me otherthinking.

Hi @Controllables, welcome to the community. These are quite standard questions before they make a decision. They're just checking that you'd still be eligible for PIP as if you'd been away in prison, hospital or abroad then that would affect your eligibility. They ask about finances in case you might need support managing your payments or any backdated pay you might be due.

It doesn't always mean that your award has definitely changed, but hopefully it is a positive sign for you that things are moving along. You should get a letter to confirm whether you've been awarded after your MR - fingers crossed that comes through soon!

Thank you, just me over thinking, why they would ask about my bank details if they weren't going to change thier mind, but if it's standard then i understand.

It isn't standard for them to call like this when someone does not have an award in payment. The questions you reported being asked tell me that its very likely an award has been made and they are ready to make payment. They ask if you can manage your finances in connection with whether you can cope with a large lump sum (e.g. an addict may not cope and would be better off with instalments).

If they are awarding you the payment will arrive in your bank before the letter will arrive.

that was my thought flour, thank you for your response but i'm still so skeptical since this has been going on over a year now, it's such a headache

That is a bizarre reason for them to call you then - this is because there was no good reason to check whether a payment can be made if they were never going to make an award. I'm so sorry for you about this.

The next step is to request a mandatory reconsideration or if you've done that then lodge an appeal.

This is standard procedure. They ask everyone the same questions so they are prepared for if an award does get made. It does not mean that an award will be made.
