Housing medical Priority

Hello all, My 12 year old has mental health issues we are currently awarded overcrowded priority but the council kept referring his condition to overcrowded as he struggles sharing his bedroom with his brother, Once i submitted gp notes social worker now they saying the information does not demonstrate that all appropriate support options have been explored and there is insufficient evidence to suggest a need that cannot be appropriately addressed through existing health support services, We are on the waiting list for CAHMS and ive submitted the first phone convo, Can someone advice me please on what further evidence i should submit

Your local council should have their allocations policy online which might give you some guidance. I know you can appeal a banding decision, I'm not sure if the same applies to a points category refusal. A local advice agency should be able to help.

When you do see CAHMS, they may be willing to write a supportive letter.

In all honestly though if he is still waiting for CAHMS I can see their point because you haven't yet exhausted all help options for him and something might be out there to help him cope with sharing a bedroom with his brother. In which case medical points for housing won't be appropriate.

thank you for your response, yes i do understand the councils point of view but what im saying is whilst medically things can help but the home enviroment will be a barrier to his recovery thats what i feel i cant explain to the council

Is there a charity that works in the area of your sons condition? They may be able to assist.

Or you could try Chatgpt, I'd not recommend just copying & pasting the response but it can give you an idea of what to then write using your own words.
