Is there anything you could talk about endlessly without having to prepare?

I find I'm quite a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to hobbies and things. I like a lot of different things but don't have very deep knowledge on anything in particular. I love learning though, so I really admire people who go deep into their interests. I find it heartwarming to listen to someone talk about something they're really into.

Do you feel passionate about a particular subject or hobby? What do you think you could talk about for ages if someone was willing to listen?

    My hobbies are the same, a bit of everything and master of none!!

    I pick up and try things all the time but rarely continue with anything lol

    Topics I could talk about forever: Education systems, books, neurodivergence, and feminism

    I also love talking about history but I don't know a lot about it, I like learning and hearing about it, and same with neuroscience

    Yes me too @Biblioklept, I get interested in things for a short time then move on to the next! Are there any areas of history that you're particularly interested in?

    I'd say I'm passionate about kites,kiteflying.. I gardening/ecology.. The former I don't get to do much these days, the latter, I do what I can. I could certainly go on about those 2 for quite some time:)
    And yes, I'm one of those who'll try to educate people about stuff, passionately ! Usually environmental stuff, transit, health etc.. Hopefully I'm not too annoying :D

    Although at the moment I'm getting interested in Mesh Radio.. Which is a bit geeky:)

    Those sound fascinating @JW77! How did you get in to kite flying originally? What kind of kites did you fly?

    I've not heard of Mesh radio either! I'll have a read through your link and see how it all works.

    You may regret asking about kites.

    I guess I blame my brothers & peanuts.. Charlie Brown always wanted to get his kite up in the air.
    Growing up with 2 older brothers in a fairly green area of London, and of course pre internet, we spent more time outdoors. My brother got into kiting (and went to work in Aviation) And he used to go kite buggying where the kite pulls you along the beach in a 3 wheeled buggy . Yes you can do that in an adapted chair/buggy.

    Kites have evolved a lot from the sticks & newspaper or blue peter plastic bags.
    I fly single, dual and quad line kites (not so good with the latter).

    Kiteing is very mindful, often those with autism, or mental health issues find it beneficial.

    I've enjoyed going to the big international kite festivals in Portsmouth & Bristol (although Bristol stopped a few years ago) There's still some dotted about. There's also very few countries where kites don't have some sort of symbolic meaning or background. I regret not living nearer to the current shows.

    I really got into 2 line stunt kites after seeing these guys.

    Finally this is a film I've never watched until now. I never knew that one of the UK's top flyers was a PA to a blind person and actually taught him to fly a 2 line kite. Amazing

    Ideally I'd love to go out regularly with a few friends.. It's finding the friends! And a field that doesn't have a tree in the middle, or some other obstruction!

    No regrets @JW77! I can really see the appeal - it looks like a peaceful mindful thing to do. I love the idea of a Kite Ballet and the choreographed kite videos.

    Must take so much practice to harness the wind in just the right way and not get the lines tangled. And for Ray Bethel to do that with three kites as one person - amazing skill!

    For me feminism, mindfulness, and ecology are important. I am also a big fan of books, and arts and crafts, being an artist myself, but lately I've been doing more craft than working on my art simply because my energy levels are rather low.

    Yet the first thing that came to mind when reading this question was interconnectedness, not just people, but really everything alive on this planet. Somehow the mentioned themes above all come together in this, even though with the current world we live in it is really difficult to see how we are all linked.

    I honestly don’t know what I have a passion about anymore, the last six years have really stripped away my identity. I used to love walking and camping, but an injury to my left thigh did away with that 8 years ago, last year all of my camping and walking gear including books and maps were donated to the local grammar school. I love music, live music gives you a buzz unlike anything. In November I am watching Deep Purple with Mammoth on Support, it will be my first gig in 8 years. I love building Lego and find it a good distraction technique with my mental health, however two full sets to build, alongside another 3 other sets to rebuild locked away in the dresser. I need to buy a few sets before they retire this year to add to the collection. I would love to attend an F1 Race or Moto GP Race but with my disabilities I am not sure about how to go about it. I think the reason I don’t have any passion at the moment is I have been in a state of limbo since my ex wife left me in 2023 and I am still having to adjust to a new way of living. I guess I am still questioning my purpose and what do I have to contribute to life in the short time I have left on this blue marble.

    Soviet bus stops! I have mentioned them before on here and I love them. They fascinate me and I think it is so interesting to see something so beautiful come out of such a bleak time.

    I'm passionate about a thirst for knowledge, just learning new things, still discovering stuff at the age of 53, i soak it all up like a sponge and it clutters my brain! As for hobbies/interests, i have loads, but i'm really passionate about most sports, music, films, historical stuff, psychology, paranormal, abandoned buildings, anything space related……probably loads more that i've forgotten about! I think the more stuff you get into, it just enriches you, and gets you through dark times, things that you go to time and again, like a comforting thing really, and it irritates me when people say they are bored! There are so many things that should fascinate and engage you in this life…….
