if nothing else, major museums are to show video versions of the tapestry. I imagine i could see that in Edinburgh.

I love history but have never read much about the Bayeux tapestry. I think I should do a deep dive, I bet it's fascinating.

My history teacher was named Battle-axe. This tapestry is all I remember her talking about. It was too remote and I was too autistic to cope at secondary school. She wrote in my report "..… is lazy". I wasn't at all.

There are currently no tickets left to see the tapestry between now and the end of the year, but the British Museum will have the tapestry for at least another year.

The next batch of tickets for dates between January and March 2027 will go on sale on the British Museum website at 10 am on 21 October 2026, with member priority booking opening on 6 October 2026.

After that, there will be another batch of tickets released for April - July 2027, with bookings opening in early 2027 and member priority booking opening in January 2027.

Subjective opinions from learned historians, they shouldnt be lightly dismissed, but i just can't be persuaded 'Harold' has a spear in hand, not an arrow in the face. Why does the object look just like the 3 arrows in his shield? If only we had an autopsy report!

It's was majorly 'restored' around 200 years ago. And has had other repairs throughout the centuries.

It's basically analogue photoshop, what we see today isn't identical to the way it was made 1000 years ago. It's entirely possible that it was made to look more like an arrow during restoration. The angle is all wrong for it to be in his eye as well.
