Reclaiming after closing in review

I used to claim uc closed it a year ago as my boyfriend at the time moved in but I was half way through a review so it got cancelled. Iv now been by myself 7 months and been using my savings which were at £6500 when I claimed uc last these are now below £5500. I am back in a relationship with my children’s dad (not the person above who moved in) he doesn’t live with me or contribute to bills. We are doing relationship counselling together and co parent . We see him 3 evenings in the week (2 hours each evening ) and on a Sunday . Has anyone put a new claim in after cancelling in review? I have read that if it’s after 90 days the old review won’t be re visited and new reviews don’t start until you’ve been claiming 6 months how correct is this? Am I likely to have to give statements now being under 6k and can I still claim as single whilst being in therapy seeing if this can work ?

    Hi,

As you live in separate properties, you can make a single claim.

As your savings were previously above £6k last time you claimed, and are now below £6k, I suspect they will ask to see bank statements when you start a new claim in this case.

When people pass up or down through £6k, that seems to trigger bank statement reviews, though it may not happen to every single claimant.

thanks for your reply. How much bank statements shall I get together? I haven’t claimed with all of the stress of it but with the price of everything going up, my mortgage due for renewal early next year and the change in free school meals iv been struggling means I am not claiming uc

They'll ask you for the time period that they want to see.

you'll likely have to go through the review again with all the documents for the period proceeding the review and your new claim. your bank can provide statements for the whole period.
