Pudendal Neuralgia
Hi Everyone,
Have been diagnosed with the above and have been suffering for over 6 years with constant pain scoring 10/10. And have recently been diagnosed and had nerve block and inguinal par injections which did nothing to help. I applied for PIP but was refused.
Anyone else have this issue or have any advice on what to ask for or do to help?

Hi @Gasher and welcome to the community. I don't have personal experience with pudendal neuralgia but it sounds really tough. Do you have good support at home?
Did you do a mandatory reconsideration for your PIP claim? I've been through the process and had to go all the way to tribunal before I was awarded. Here's information about appealing that may be useful.

Hi Rachel thank you for your reply, yes I have just forwarded my mandatory reconsideration to the DWP my original assessor had no idea of what my condition was or how it makes everyday life very painful and she had not even contacted my doctor or consultant before the assessment yet decided that I was able to do everything. She was a nurse and it was over the telephone and she made assumptions regarding my condition, my daughter is a nurse and she had it drilled into her to never make assumptions about any patient she sees

Thank you for the update @Gasher. How are you feeling about the mandatory reconsideration?

Not sure I have made a complaint to Capita who carried out the assessment on top of the mandatory reconsideration and am waiting for there response also. I have made the DWP aware of this in my report.
Have been to the doctors since with suicidal thoughts, waking up every day after 4 hours sleep knowing you have 20 hrs of constant pain to go through.

Hi Mary,
I am not sure how it will go, I have informed the DWP that I have complained to Capita who carried out the assessment on top of the mandatory reconsideration also. Since then I have been diagnosed with suicidal thoughts, I only sleep for 4 hours and then wake up knowing I have 20 hours of extreme pain to go through every day. I have not socialised for over 4 years and for the last 6 months have found it extremely painful to even walk, something that I enjoyed doind every day. So lets hope but I have no trust in the system.

I'm so sorry for how this is affecting you @Gasher. It sounds incredibly difficult. I'm glad to see that you have been to see the dr. Have they referred you for any therapy?
Unfortunately with PIP it can be very common to be scored low when first applying. I really hope that the MR goes through quickly and you are awarded. Did you include evidence from your dr and consultant?
How would you feel about socialising on an online community like this? It could be a good way to get used to socialising again and hopefully you'll feel well enough to start going out again. We have the Coffee Lounge with lots of different chats and you can also chat about how you're feeling. I always find it helpful to talk things through.
I've sent you a private message.
