Is it a pineapple?
I didn't consider this before, thinking it grows on a tree, but it doesn't:

I retract my guess of a chirimoya because it turns out it grows on a tree. Who knew? I didn't until playing this fun and educational game 🤣

Yeah, I ate a cherimoya once years and years ago @StarryEyed I even tried to grow a plant from the seeds but that didn't take. Did it have a banana-like taste? That is what I seem to remember, not sure though…

@Rosie_Scope I had never heard of them either before moving here. Look at us two Smartie Pants!! 😁 @SmellyBin , yes, I taste a hint of bananas too. I love the very different texture. Oh and the striking contrast between the large black seeds and white pulp and green skin. And eating them while spitting out the seeds feels so joyfully vulgar 😁
