hi can any one tell me is a state pension a overlapping benefit when you claim carerers allowance.

    Hi gerardmckeever,

    Yes, it is. You can't get state retirement pension at the same time as carer's allowance. You'd usually get the retirement pension instead.

    It can still be worth claiming carer's allowance though, because it can make other benefits worth more, particularly pension credit.
