I was diagnosed with chronic heart failure in November i've been awarded enhanced rate mobility but no care. I've asked for a Mandatory Reconsideration which was refused, I am looking for help now on how to fill in the appeal form

Hi @colnic657 welcome to the community - there is a great resource on the CAB website for filling in the appeal forms. It goes through step by step, hope this helps.

Hi there. As Sam says, this CAB resource is really helpful, and it's always a possibility that once the appeal request goes in, and the DWP see what a good case you have, that the decision can revised before you get to appeal. However, it's more likely than not that you will have to prepare for an appeal hearing. If possible, it's better to state on your appeal form that you want to attend the hearing, rather than have it heard it your absence. While you are waiting for your appeal to be arranged, there are various things you can be doing which will increase your chances of success:1) try and find a benefits adviser to help you - the Scope helpline can give you details of local advice agencies which may be able to help; 2) make sure you are aware of all the daily living activities and descriptors which apply to you, and how many points you are likely to score from them; 3) start keeping a diary and note down any examples of what happens in your day to day life which will give the appeal tribunal a really good idea of how your daily life is managed and the difficulties you experience. Remember that you should score points for an activity if you CANNOT do it repeatedly, safely, reliably and in a reasonable time frame; 4) start trying to accumulate supportive evidence if you can from anyone who knows you well. It's helpful if you can get some supportive medical evidence too, which is specific about the descriptors which apply to you. There is excellent help on all of these issues on the websites of Citizens Advice, Disability Rights UK and www.benefitsandwork.co.uk.
Good luck with your appeal!
