KaleidoScope: Our own gallery for members' art work, crafts and photographs.

Many of us find refuge and relaxation in creativity. My hope is that this will be a space where members can share photographs of things that are important to them - of paintings, models, knitting, embroidery, crochet, lego models, calligraphy, photographs or whatever you can put a name to. It is here for us to share and to support each other and, because it is within Scope, only supportive and helpful comments will be welcome. Let's see what happens.

My favourite subject, photography.
It enables expression, because everyone is focused on the photo, not who took it.
This drawing of a dead cockerel, brought in by a tutor who was also a farmer, is probably older than a good many of our members. A blast from the past. I don't do much drawing these days, but thought I'd be the first to stick my head over the parapet. And even then, I'm second! @whistles proved too quick on the draw! Great stuff.
If you would like to contribute to KaleidoScope but are not sure how, or if you want guidance on any techniques that are used, please get in touch.
Best wishes to everyone,
Richard
This is Colombo who is a cross between a Basset and Shar-Pei. He is fantastic and very funny. He looks after my children (adults now) when they are feeling low and in pain. Xxxx
Thank you for posting
Richard
I'm wondering how this lovely picture came to be uploaded as it did, rather than filling the screen? Did you perhaps use the upload file tab, rather than the upload image? Not that clicking on the file is any hardship
Really, really lovely. I hope we'll get to see more as time goes on.
Warmest best wishes,
Richard
lumited movement in it,so can’t go on any off the cycling equipment or the rowing machine.I found this piece of equipment what I can sit on and hopefully with time will strengthen my upper body.I hate how I look I’m all skin and bones, for me to go to the gym and put pictures of me on here is a very big deal for me.Sorry if I shouldn’t have posted this on here, just wanted to share it with you all
Given what your anxieties are, it was very, very courageous of you to make this post and you have my respect and my admiration.
And last but not least - hope you don't mind - but I think you look absolutely lovely and you have a gorgeous smile.
I will try to do some research, in fact, see if there is any specialised gym equipment available out there.
Warmest, warmest best wishes to you,
Richard
So glad you joined in with us.
Best, always,
Richard
Could someone please give me Info about where their are friendly art studio s are as I would love to start art after I've had my op for relaxation and to make friends live near sheffield/chesterfield.
Thankyou.
Colourfull.
I've been looking around but can't find a specific resource on here that would give you the answer to your question. It would probably be easier for you to Google it. I tried 'Art clubs near me' in the Google search and it brought a few up, and I found this https://lessons.com/art-classes#, among many other entries. You'd need to have a look at it yourself and input the data it requires, but I don't know if it's a commercial operation or what it is.
Scope covering the whole country (with the exception, I think, of Scotland) our members don't seem to combine in regional or district groups. As a mere volunteer I don't know how I could get access to knowing who is where in order to spread your enquiry around other Sheffielders
See if any of this helps, and don't hesitate to get back to me if I can be of any use.
Warmest best wishes,
Richard
I'm never going to be a pop star that's for sure but that's not the aim.
I put my headphones on and the creative process starts.
I can be lost in a mess of sound and engineering that sound .... creating new sounds.
I think I'm Pink Floyd at Abbey Road recording studios.
A drop of Irish occasionally enhances that illusion.
Thirty odd musical tracks here for better or worse ...... https://www.reverbnation.com/jackbackband
Thank you very much for posting.
I wrore this piece about Beinning as it is a topic or theme for mental health at the moment. For me its about taking that first step each time and being aware that it is movement or progress. I hope you enjoy it.
Begin.........
Took me a long time to figure out using a piano style electronic keyboard and its MIDI connection. With a soft synth attached to a hard synth the crafting of sounds is almost limitless.
The beauty of MIDI is I can add endless synthesizer sounds. Not limited by the keyboards that have built in sounds.
I love being in the headphones world while I'm doing it but sadly I'm not well enough to do much anymore.
Asperger’s
My Thought Process
I didn’t want to be here in the first place.
The voice says in my head
When I start talking, I forget to stop
I get tongue tied when I’m speaking, because my thoughts run faster than my mouth
I think that what you’re saying is interesting, the voice says in my head
While thinking about what you are saying I missed the rest of what you said
I had the perfect answer, but now you’re talking about something else
And now the perfect answer has gone straight out of my head
I’ll try to catch up with what you’re now saying instead.
I didn’t want to be here in the first place,
The voice says in my head
Now thinking
What else can I say instead?
My response just went over your head
I express myself better when writing,
So how is your day I ask?
Hoping you will lead the conversation
While I work with the emotions in my head!
The room has now become crowded.
Others have come over to join us, I smile I hope a welcoming grin,
Yet my brain is finding it difficult to control
The din of so many voices all jumbling in,
Words all jumping around, as bouncy balls all making sounds
I feel my head swim,
My pulse starts to race,
I’m anxious
I can’t keep pace
Now what can I do to save face.
Heart racing,
I look for safe retreat,
Waiting for the right moment, to get to my feet,
Wait,
What shall I say as I make my escape?
Panic tightens my chest
Can’t catch my breath
I’m sure I will die;
Dizzily I feel frozen in this place
I look upwards and silently say to the sky
I didn’t want to be here, you see, this is why
My leaving a blur
Muttered thanks
Excuses for leaving so soon
Now home safe as panic subsides,
Happy that I had survived
Awaiting the beginning of depolarization time
The analysis of every minute that has gone by,
From how lucky am I to have survived?
To
Why did they ask that?
Was my answer correctly made?
In a manner that didn’t offend?
I wish I hadn’t been there
I never know when the analysis will end
And
Another set of flashback to drive me round the bend
Awaiting triggers
To start the whole analysis
All over again
I didn’t ask to be there
Yet
It would have been rude not to attend.
Will this never end?

All creativity comes from the mind and since you've managed to get your post into words - which means either you can 'manage' to type (though that may be a huge effort) or you have a voice-to-text capability. Could you consider creative writing in some form? It could be stories, if you've any inclination that way, or poetry, or perhaps you could write your own story, your autobiography? Even if it were no more than getting those 'horrible thoughts' down 'on paper' as it were?
What do you think? Please, please get back to me, so that we can talk further,
Warmest regards to you,
Richard
Photography remains a keen interest of mine, though I seem to take fewer and fewer pictures - mostly, these days, of squirrels and my little feathered friends. Modern cameras do all the work these days - make it almost too easy.
Really lovely to hear from you,
Best
Richard
Can you tell me (as a bloke, who seems to see machine stitching but isn't absolutely sure) what techniques you used in this?
Warmest best wishes, and thank you for posting,
Richard
Best to you,
Richard
im not very creative sadly
Are you absolutely sure, @susan48 about not being creative? How are you with words?
Best to you both,
Richard
There seem to be some complicated paper shapes in these. Do you buy them from a craft supplier?
Warmest best wishes to you,
Richard
Well done you for finding it!
Warmest best wishes
Richard
And I love this. It took me just a moment to 'see' it but, when I did! Quite suddenly the positioning of the trugs and pots reminded me of of gabions, the baskets full of earth that were used as defences around infantry and artillery positions up to the late 1800s. Excellent.
Richard
I also photograph butterflies and dragonflies when I get the chance, (but I'll warn you I've got hundreds of pics).
Very best to you,
Richard
Meant to ask you regarding photographs - do you do any editing? There's a great free photo editing resource called 'Photoscape' for use on computer, and I use it a lot to tweak my shots.
Best
Richard
I don't know the name of the insect in your second shot, but the image is so crisp. Brilliant. Everybody seems to use 'stacking' technology these days, but I haven't yet got into it.
Thank you very, very much for posting these.
Best
Richard
I've heard of stacking and seen some impressive pics made with it but I wouldn't know where to start. Just get as close as possible and use as good a lens as you can lay your hands on. The one good thing about butterflies and dragonflies is that the light is always good.
Very warmest best wishes to you,
Richard
I am a person
A daughter
A sister
A cousin
A student
An employee
Everything completely normal
Just I have a twist
I’m a sick kid
I battle with pain
With bruises
With cannulas
I fight operations
I fight stigma
From people who say things
Like “you’re too young to be sick”
Like “at least it’s not cancer”
Like “you’re just tired”
I’m a campaigner
An artist
A traveler
I love coffee
I love tea
I love holidays
I love being me
But I wish sick kids were given a break
Because we are just people
Just not entirely ordinary
Warmest best wishes to you,
Richard
