Compliance interview

Hi there.
I've recently received a letter asking me to visit the jobcentre for an interview with a Compliance Officer. Due to my disability, I have since requested a home visit but they stated it can be done via telephone.
I currently receive ESA (support group) and had no idea why they are wanting to interview me. However, I've just discovered that you need to declare savings over 6K. I'd always assumed it was 16k!
I've no idea if this is the reason for the interview but will obviously be declaring it. My question is should I wait for the interview or declare it first thing Monday? The interview isn't for another 2 weeks.

Thank you/

    Hi mac and welcome

Is your ESA IR or CB ?
this can make a big difference
However Being in SG this is one of the only ways they get to talk to you
It could simply be a random check that you are receiving the benefits that you should
or it could be information received that they have to follow upon
Being a telephone interveiw it is not likely to be of a serious nature but have any paperwork they have asked for to hand

Hi CR, thanks for the reply.
It was CB but then switched to IR. It's confusing though as apparently I'm still credited with NI contributions so I'm not entirely sure if it's CR topped up with IR.

If it was CB, it will always be CB but with a IR topup. If you have savings over £6000 it will affect you IR amount by £1 for every £250 over. Best thing to do is be honest!
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Yes I will be, but my question is whether to wait for the interview or declare it ASAP?

    You should declare asap.
How long have you had in excess of 6k and when did you start to receive the IR top up ?

Without any doubts you need to ring them and declare it ASAP. I have no idea why you would want to wait for the interview.
