Arthritis and hip replacement

Hi all. Hope we're all as well as we can be today.
I need to ask someone anyone about hip replacements!! I saw consultant again recently and was told need surgery asap for to high level of deterioration. All fair and good so far BUT....... I would love to hear from those who have had one if it greatly improves mobility because the surgeon just mentioned improvement in level of pain. Nothing about mobility which I'd rather like to know about.
Cheers
Andy .

    Hi Andy

Mobility is complicated becuase you could be imobile or limited by your other hip or ankle.  It should improve after healing if only because pain and stress reduce and you can get some decent REM sleep.

Tagging in @hope, @CrazyLady1960 and @estellosaurus who've all discussed hip replacements on the community in the past, in case they can help. @estellosaurus also wrote a guest blog about her experiences which you may find interesting!

Thanks Pippa.  I like the idea of hydrotherapy.

I don't know much about this, except that a friend had the hip replaced and is very happy with it. I don't know what degree of deterioration there was, and I think ahd had the other knee replaced once the first one had healed.

Knees are hard to replace as I understand.
