I filled out my renewal for PIP In May had a txt in May saying they had my form and that l May need another medical my question is twofold first l am wondering how long they take with forms it's now about to be August secondly the people doing the medical are not consultants so how can they decide how it effects you l have them come into my home so will refuse any right to film me as l believe it's against my human rights to do so after all it's my bedroom they come into to me it's my sanctity from the world. Does anyone else feel this way no matter how many times they are told l am deaf they still do not face me when speaking so most of the time my carer will say she didn't understand your question

    There's no timescales to how long it will take. Backlogs in most areas means it can take several months. Most people have face 2 face assessments so expect this. Sending relevant evidence to support your claim and the assessment will give the assessment provider a picture of how your conditions affect you. They very rarely contact anyone for evidence so sending it to support your claim is important.
    They won't be filing you inside your home, so i'm not sure why you thought that.
    If a home assessment is needed then a letter from your GP maybe needed stating the reasons why you can't attend one of the assessment centres. They may refuse a home assessment without this.

    Unfortunately there are no timescales. Many areas are currently dealing with backlogs so it will take several weeks or months. Many claimants are expected to have face to face assessments. Make sure that you send them all relevant evidence so that they can fully understand how much your disability affects you. Be aware that they tend not to contact you to ask for it. 

    And no one is allowed to film you without permission. If you do need a home assessment send off a letter from your GP with your claim form explaining why you are not able to attend your appointment. Or any specialists who see you regularly. When asking for a home assessment I drafted a letter describing Oliver’s disability and sent them a photocopy. I kept one copy of the form and letter for my own records.
