ADHD and learning support for my child

My son was diagnosed with adhd two years ago. He also has trouble with toileting issues,he reguarly soils himself in class and at home. He has been getting help in the class room  from a teaching assistant who takes him to the toilet and encourages him to change himself but when he moved up into year 6  they never gave him an assistant. When I asked they said they didn't have the resources and they said they would have to see how things went.  He is is still having the same learning problems and the toileting issues. Can send help him with a teaching assistant? He diffenite needs help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry you're having such a stressful and difficult time with your son, I sympathise entirely. My daughter is 15, ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance Syndrome, an Autism Spectrum Disorder. 
Does your son have an EHCP? These things are so hard to get in some places, blood and stone come to mind. If there's no EHCP in place the school were supplying the TA from their own budget. We've all heard about cuts, cuts, and more cuts, schools have their budgets cut  do a shuffle round of money and make their own cuts as necessary/unnecessary.
The EHCP would have every type of support your son needs set out and the school or outside agency have to provide it. From my understanding and experience to gain a EHCP is a lot of stress, paperwork, assessments by varying people and all with the likelihood of refusal to even take the first step towards that final goal.
Personally I'd take a trip into school and request an appointment with the SENCo, discuss what they consider to be your son's strengths and areas requiring more support. Take things from there. Usually another great resource would be his specialist peadiatricion or CAMHS, they're there to help and give advice.

As @Rapunzel says, does your son have an EHCP? An education, health and care (EHC) plan is for children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support.

EHC plans identify educational, health and social needs and set out the additional support to meet those needs.

You can ask your local authority to carry out an assessment if you think your child needs an EHC plan.

Both of you thank you so much for your advice greatly appreciated.  I have been so stressed this past wek. I  went into school.and saw send teacher. I explained  the problems we were having. She reassured me that my son was still a priority but they only had two assistants across there whole year. She offered to go in at lunch time to make sure he was eating. She went in too late  but gave him a cake to eat anyway as he hadn't eaten much. I have offered to get in touch with our local council send to see if they can help. Failing that our next ADHD clinic is in October and I will see what they say. I think he is showing signs of autism too,  which they say some children with ADHD can devlope  too.so will ask about that. His sister has just been diagnosed  with it and she's 14. I will look into getting EHCP. Can't thank you enough for your help, felt like I had no where to turn and he certainly needs the help.
