are there any Laryngectomees in the group? It’s now over three years since my surgery. I also suffer from COPD.
Here I am, on my disability scooter, Tuesday.

Hi @DaveTaylor, I've had a look and you appear to be the first person discussing a laryngectomy on the community! Would you like to tell us some more about it?
We do have some other members with COPD who I'll tag in here: @Candyfloss, @ellenlow17, and @southwestmike, to name a few! -
Not a lot is known about it by the general public. Between Berwick and Teeside, there are only about 200.
Laryngectomees, also known as neck breathers, are unable to talk as we have lost our voice boxes to cancer.
There are other problems, such as COPD.
I will contribute more at a later date. -

I would like to make people more aware of what this condition is. For a start, the operation to remove my larynx and pharynx and to rebuild my neck took fourteen hours. There was also some follow-up surgery. mment

Thanks for sharing this @DaveTaylor, it's really good to hear more about conditions/procedures that are often less talked about. Keep it up!
