Non dependent deductions

Hello,
I was wondering what my situation would be if a non dependent in my household began to work full time. I am currently being assessed to receive ESA without the severe disability premium. In the current benefits system I am aware that council tax and housing benefit will be affected.
However will any deductions be made to my ESA should I be assessed as needing it?
Many thanks for any info.

Hi,No deduction will be made to your ESA because it's money for you. The only time there will be a deduction made is if you claim Income Related ESA and you live with a partner that works. A partner that works 24 hours or more per week means you won't be eligible for any Income Related ESA.Contributions based ESA isn't means tested and a partner working won't affect this.Non dependent deductions apply to housing benefit only.0

Hi @Glitterdog13,
I've found this comment from our benefits advisors on another community discussion which you may find useful:"If your ESA contains a severe disability premium worth up £61.85 per week then up to this amount can be lost when a non-dependent moves in. You will only be getting the severe disability premium if you: 1) receive a qualifying benefit such as PIP daily living component (as it seems you do); and 2) no one receives Carer's Allowance in respect of caring for you; and 3) you live alone (ignoring dependent children and some other disabled people).
Other than the loss of the severe disability premium above there can be no other losses to your benefits."0 -
Severe disability premium is £64.30 per week and not £61.85. SDP and non dependent deductions are 2 totally different things.
